Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD)

This design-build project includes renovations, repairs and expansion to a single-story Dining Facility to meet the demands of an increased recruitment program to match the historical character of the existing buildings. The building expansion included two different areas.  The north entrance expansion includes a new colonnade/trellis entrance and a 300 seat dining area. The southeast expansion includes a walk-in freezer, dry storage, offices, bathroom and a break room. The majority of the renovation includes repair work consisting of seismic upgrades, furring and insulation exterior walls, painting, patching and upgrading finishes. The project incorporates several energy savings and sustainable design elements including natural daylighting, solar water heating and roof-mounted photovoltaic panels.
