San Diego Central Police Facility

This design-build project consists of a new Heavy Vehicle Maintenance facility and a K-9/SWAT facility with offices and supporting areas. The re-development of this nine acre site along the Chollas Creek surrounds the San Diego Police Pistol Range. The Vehicle Maintenance facility included service bays and shops, a four pump fueling island, a drive through carwash, and a maintenance support building that houses steam cleaning facilities, hazardous materials storage, road flare storage and trash facilities. The second floor included administrative offices, a conference area, locker rooms, lunch areas and workout facilities. An extensive survey of existing equipment identified for reuse at these new facilities was also conducted to offset construction costs.  Innovative use of pre-engineered structural building components throughout the maintenance facility proved to be a cost effective alternate to more traditional construction types.
